About
Westcott Mercantile

In the early 1900’s general stores, called ‘mercantiles’, became the local community gathering place and strived to carry all of the items that neighbors might need.

The Westcott family history is full of artists, poets and craftspeople. Mary Westcott Thomajan has maintained her creative spirit through her work over the years. Running several successful small businesses while engaging with other business owners on a local level. She has always had a creative flair for merchandising, a passion for retail and an entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2013, Mary’s vision for an upscale, old-style general store in Belmont took shape. She envisioned a comfortable ‘meeting place’ for friends. A place to share stories while listening to the classic crooners and perusing the shelves for unique gifts while learning something about the maker.  Mary loves sharing the stories of the artisans and promoting the many products that ‘give back’ to important causes.

Westcott Mercantile has become a local and regional award winning favorite. You never know what treasure Mary might find at a flea market to add to her eclectic mix. The store is always changing as she admits to selling even the displays. Mary has given new life to the hunt for that perfect gift and her creativity puts it all together in a unique package that the recipient will love!
